Little Dragons
Getting Started
Each Little Dragon session begins with participation in the Future Student Program which includes two classes and a Little Dragon Karate uniform.
Introduction
The Little Dragons program introduces Karate to children ages 5 and 6 years old. The program runs throughout the year and classes meet 2 times per week on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM. Classes introduce stretching, blocks, kicks, punches, basic forms, and other skills with an emphasis on healthy fun!
What Will My Child Learn?
Basic Martial Arts Skills
Little Dragons is the youngest level of the Universal System, a special system designed by educators and child psychologists to introduce Shorin-Ryu karate to younger students, age 5 and 6. This course is designed to prepare for the Universal level in karate and skills needed to be successful in Elementary School.
Physical Fitness as Fun
Little Dragon training is a triangle of:
· Life Skills: Children learn and practice skills to help them grow up and become more successful in schools and their relations with friends and family.
· Safety Skills: The world is not getting any safer so we need to prepare our children how to stay out of harms way.
· Martial Arts Skills: Kicks, Punches, Blocks and Get Away Tricks. They are all put together in drills and games designed to make exercise fun.
Our Program will:
· Promote physical strength
· Promote coordination and stamina
· Help develop a love of learning
· Build fundamental motor skills
· Help your child develop a good body image
· Help your child develop a good self-image
· Encourage positive socialization skills
· We will help your child develop all the skills necessary to grow up into and lead a successful life.
Some things that parents should look for in a Children’s Karate class
Children should look forward to going to the karate school. Will your children be excited about coming to class? Is it something they will look forward to or something they look for excuses to miss? Talk to your children and find out the reasons they would like to take karate. Find out if they are willing to make attaining a Black Belt a personal goal and stick to it.
The costs that are involved: It is hard for us to explain the value of our program to someone that has no idea what the martial arts are all about. This is why our Future Student Program is so important. In this way you can view our facilities, talk to our staff, watch our classes and give us a chance to answer all your questions and address any concerns you might have. The long term benefits of your children training in karate include the learning and development of many life and safety skills that will help them become more successful growing up in school and in their social lives. This is hard to put a price on. Our program does give you twice the value and curriculum for roughly half the cost of any junior program in any other professional Karate School.
